Broken (Fracture)

Broken (Fracture) Synopsis

Young, idealistic Jewish teacher Anna is up for the challenge in her new job at a deprived, multi-ethnic school in a tough Paris suburb. Full of enthusiastic belief in the power of education, she is determined to make a difference in the lives of her students, who mostly come from low-income, immigrant families. She is particularly drawn to Lakdar, a bright young Muslim boy, whose dream of becoming a professional illustrator is crushed when an accident leaves him without the use of his right hand. Lakdar's bitter disappointment leads him to take radical action, dragging him into a downward spiral that puts Anna's liberal beliefs to the ultimate test.
