Bath: The Way We Were Synopsis

Through archive cine-film, old photos and the archives of the Bath Chronicle, this superb collection takes a fascinating look back at life in Bath from 1840 to the 1970s. The story starts in August 1840, as cheering crowds greet the arrival of the railway, and ends in 1973, with Bath commemorating one of the highlights of its ancient history. The film includes extraordinary colour footage of the aftermath of the Bath Blitz, combined with moving eye-witness accounts from the Chronicle. Remarkable film of the city centre in the 1960s shows the many changes that took place as Bath was rebuilt, and other fascinating footage shows the visit of the Queen in 1973 to join in a special anniversary for the city.
