  • Interview With Adam Bagger & Céline...

Continuing our interest in the filmmakers campaigning for funding on Kickstarter, we discovered Adam Bagger and Céline Geiger. Adam and Céline brought their film, Objects In The Rearview, to Kickstarter to raise $12,000 for production costs. Their campaign was exceptionally successful and it ended with more than $20,000 in pledges from interested backers. What caught our eye about this campaign was the film’s very relatable plot and its talented cast (including Jonathan Tucker, Mekenna Melv.....

  • Kickstarter Campaign: Ed Skudder An...

Recently we had the opportunity to interview the creators behind Dick Figures, the highest rated animated web series on YouTube. Ed Skudder and Zack Keller recently began a campaign on Kickstarter to raise the funds to try and create a feature film set in the world they have created in Dick Figures. The YouTube series generates over a million views per episode and already has a large fan base on Facebook. Q:    Where did the idea for this film come from? What is your background in fi.....

  • To Rome With Love

By Richard von Busack It’s not that To Rome With Love was built in a day. But watching the new Woody Allen one remembers the recent PBS documentary about Allen. The director/writer showed off the filing cabinet he’s been keeping for decades, containing typewritten ideas for films. To Rome With Love looks as if he threw three or four of these fortune-cookie slips of paper together and called it a script. Allen had a hit filling up the screen with Paris; similarly, To Rome With Love.....

Kickstarter is taking the film industry to a new level by offering filmmakers the opportunity to fund their movies with the aid of their audience. Despite her busy schedule, Whoopi took some time to answer a few questions for .....

  • The Amazing Spider Man

By Richard von Busack This emo and bloody reboot is about how our hero fights a nine foot tall lizard-man. But it’s so muddled that it’s hard to tell what else The Amazing Spider-Man is about. Some of the key fighting in The Amazing Spider-Man (beginning at midnight tonight; tickets and showtimes here) occurs in sewers instead of in the air. Its look is gritty and nocturnal, and the technology is meant to look more real-world, as if in honor of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight f.....

  • The Five Best (Mostly) Original Mov...

by Matt Sills Music is incredibly important to a movie.  Don't believe me?  Watch 2001 with no music, and see if it has the same impact.  Watch the opening of Start Wars without that incredible theme and see if you still get goosebumps.  Face it, movies need music like Peaches needs Herb, like Puffy needs Biggie, like Andrew Ridgley needs George Michael (look that last one up, kids).  Today, there are some incredible movie composers working, but in this age of streaming and digital downl.....
