Why Now Disney? A Wrinkle in Time Movie Adaptation

Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time award winning quintet book series is finally getting the credit it deserves: a movie adaption by Disney (March 2018).

Why Now Disney? A Wrinkle in Time Movie Adaptation

Disney has finally realized Meg Murry (Storm Reid), Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) and Calvin’s (Levi Miller) intriguing story of traveling through time and space is worth adapting.

Did I mention Madeleine L’Engle, (November 29, 1918-September 6, 2007) the author of A Wrinkle in Time, published her novel way back in 1962! Why’d you wait so long Disney?

For those of us who read L’Engle’s profound series in our childhood (or adulthood), we knew it was unique, even if the plots weren’t flawless. Maybe these futuristic notions and adventures were too much to create for theaters back in the day?

Think about it, even one of the most futuristic movies of its time (Back to the Future) didn’t triumph the big screen until 1985.

After watching A Wrinkle in Time’s trailer, we have a better understanding of Disney’s sophisticated approach to this 60’s classic.

Considering Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit), Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who) and Zach Galifianakis (The Happy Medium) are starring in director Ava DuVernay’s film, we can fathom why Walt Disney waited so long to adapt such a fantastic book series into a film.

Who’s going to watch L’Engle’s gripping novel adaptation in theaters March 2018?
