Bring On The Troll Dolls Movie

2010-06-22

Los Angeles based Dream Works Animation is licensing the iconic Happy Troll Doll character a future film project. The studio reportedly has Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio ("Evergone," "The Impossible Adventures of Phineas Roone") onboard to write screenplay, with Dannie Festa of Festa Entertainment executive producing the feature.

Troll Dolls were created in 1959 by Danish woodcarver Thomas Dam as a gift for his daughter, the beady-eyed, fuzzy-haired dolls sparked an international craze in the early 1960s, with nostalgic revivals introducing the figures to subsequent generations as well.

Troll dolls have already appeared in films before, including appearing as terrified train passengers in the opening sequence of Pixar's "Toy Story 3" and as the inspiration for Rumpelstiltskin's "angry wig" hairstyle in  "Shrek Forever After."
