Paul Rodriguez , also known as P-Rod (born December 31, 1984, in Tarzana, California U.S.) is a Mexican-American professional skateboarder and actor.
Rodriguez was born in Tarzana, California to Mexican stand up comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez, Sr. and Jolene Rodriguez, who later divorced in 1990. His family later moved to Chatsworth, California. Rodriguez started skateboarding at the age of 11 and was given the nickname "P-Rod" by his skateboarding friends. In the beginning, skateboarding was strictly recreational. Rodriguez would go to skate shops with his friends, where they would watch skating videos and “try to do what all the pros were doing.” Rodriguez got his first sponsor at age 14 with DNA Skateboards.
When Rodriguez was a sophomore at Birmingham High School in Los Angeles, he revealed to his parents his intentions to drop out of school to pursue a career in skateboarding, a notion that his parents did not support. He eventually convinced his parents, and became a pro skater at age 16. As Rodriguez’s skills improved, one of his friends took notice and began filming his skating sessions. “My friend Nigel sent my video out to a lot of people and I started getting calls,”
